SNAC Dialouge Session: Advocacy for Local Built Environment Policy

In this session Marjorie Hennessy, with Health by Design, will be speaking about the work her team does to make physical activity safe and accessible through built environment initiatives. This short presentation will be followed by breakout sessions to discuss your experiences with advocating for policy and system-level change with other professionals in the field. Breakout sessions will be guided by an Appreciative Inquiry framework that will help us reconnect to our “why” and help us begin to define a shared vision. We will then all come together to review how our state can leverage strengths and resources to move toward that vision.

Objective: Participants will walk away with an understanding of how other organizations use different advocacy strategies to promote physical activity.

Agenda:

1. Presentation by Marjorie: Hear more about the work her team does to make physical activity safe and accessible through built environment initiatives. (15 minutes)

2. Break Out Sessions: Time to engage in meaningful dialogue using an Appreciative Inquiry framework. (30 minutes)

3. Group Debrief: Mural will be used to record common themes to inform participants and the work of SNAC in the coming years. (15 minutes)
